Cheetah Print – Taking A Walk On The Wild Side
While the cheetah print was somewhat of a staple in the 1980′s, it disappeared back in the 90′s. Surprisingly, it has been making a slight comeback in the retro fashion scene. Additionally, while it did disappear in the world of fashion; furniture, sheets, and blankets have continued to carry the style on.
The cheetah print has a sort of stigma to it thanks to its run in the 1980′s, many of the styles and fashions that were popular at the time were made with this print. Cheetah-themed clothes and tapestries were common back then, as were neon colors and acid washed jeans. All three of these styles have negativity attached to them just because of the decade in which they were popular. However, unlike acid washed jeans and neon colors, cheetah-printed items have been a little more prominent through the 1990′s and into the 2000′s. This could be because of the print’s relatively inoffensive look, or simply because it is based off of an animal. Either way, the style has lived on longer than other things that rose and fell in the 1980′s.
If you want a cheetah print blanket or sheet set, it will be easy to find. Unlike clothing, the cheetah print is still widely available for home products. You can walk into almost any department store and find them.
These can be a great accent to a more contemporary home theme, though obviously are not great for homes that are more conservatively or classically decorated. Curtains that have this type of pattern are more difficult to come by. You may have to go to interior design specialty stores, or look online order to find curtains with cheetah spots printed on them. However, in most cases if you can find them, they are usually not very expensive.
As for clothing with the cheetah pattern on them, that is little bit harder to come by than curtains. If you want cheetah print shirts, jackets, or pants, you may have to make them yourself. Retro fashion isn’t in at the moment and it is hard to find them unless you go into specialty stores or shop online. If you want to purchase cheetah clothing, your best bet is the internet; however, if you’re aiming to make the clothing yourself, you can find the designs in many fabric stores.
While it has somewhat gone out of style, the cheetah print is coming back. While you will not find it in clothing, you will find in other household decorations.
The cheetah print design was once very popular on clothing, but today it is mostly restricted to other uses. Don’t get discouraged! It is still easy to find almost anywhere.
