You do not want your figures to be damaged in any way so you must be sure to keep them out of the sun and heat, keep them out of a humid environment, and free from dust and dirt. They may have been indestructible in the comic book or the movie but that is where it ends.

The mint in package figures also need tender loving care. The package was made to be thrown away so it is not made of durable material. These packages should not be exposed to sun and heat as this will destroy the packaging and may damage the figure.

You want to continue taking care of your collection so you may consider insuring it. It is an investment and should be protected. Sometimes your home insurance will include coverage but it would be best to speak with your agent to find out if this is actually so. Or perhaps a floater on your present policy would provide the coverage you need. You also may want to look into coverage that is specifically for collectibles.
