I used to be a cheater. It may hurt my masculinity to admit everything I am about to say, but I think I owe it to women all around the world to say what I am about to say. Maybe it can help them avoid all of the hurt and pain that I caused others. The things that I am about to tell you may not apply to every cheater in the world, but they’re the same things that I did.
It always surprised me when women got so shocked that I was a cheater, especially if that’s how I began my relationship with them. I would be with a woman for a while and as the relationship started to fizzle out, I’d simply move on to the next. I did this for many years with many different women, yet they were always surprised when it happened to them.
Change can come but just like quitting any behavior, it takes a desire to quit. This goes for smoking, drug or gambling addiction or cheating. The belief that the cheater isn’t going to cheat comes from a great line that the cheater lays out. Cheaters have considerable experience in laying out good lines to their partners.
My partner was never made a part of my social group. It was far too easy to have one of them slip about the gorgeous redhead I was with last week after a couple of drinks at the local club. If friends or family aren’t introduced to you after you’ve been together for awhile it may well be that you aren’t alone in having him provide affection.
One successful ploy that I utilized was to be Mr. Sensitive. You could pour your heart and soul out to me and I’d understand. This creates a false sense of trust in the relationship. If your night consists of talking followed by sexual relations or vice versa, you may be being played. Men’s intentions are usually sexual. If you don’t mind being someone who is played with that’s fine. If you find t his offensive, it’s time to find someone else who really cares for you.
Dating sites can also be something you need to keep a careful eye on. If you’re in a relationship with a guy and you catch him on one of these sites, he’s not looking for a friend. Instead, it’s a fool-proof way to meet women outside of the social circle you’re both in. That gives him less of a chance of being caught. If you’re on one of the sites, you should be careful about the men without pictures on their profiles. You get more hits when you have a picture, it makes you wonder why any guy wouldn’t.
When I was with a good woman, but still cheating on her I would often make the time with her as special as I could out of guilt. I would buy roses just because they might make her happy. Or I’d be extra attentive to her needs. I might cook; give a massage, anything to show her how special she was. It was all bullshit of course; I wasn’t trying to make her feel better. I wanted to wash the guilt away.
