Three days following the November, 1991 release of “Dangerous” saw the album reach number one status. It broke all previous records for the rush to the top of any album. Oddly, “Black Or White” was the only single to reach number 1 in the US. The Beatles’ “Let It Be” smash-hit from 1970 had been the fastest-climbing single until “Black Or White” beat its record by leaping 32 spots as a Pop single. It may have been a change in the day of release – by Sony – from a Monday to a Thursday that aided in this achievement.
Michael’s “History” album – a clever play-on-words – was a two-album release of 30 titles. Fifteen of these were new; fifteen were greatest hits. A lot of new efforts can be found on this set. Sixteen new singles found their way onto Michael Jackson’s last album. “Invincible” also offered “more fun” by making this October, 2001 release available in 5 different CD covers! Although it didn’t receive a good amount of promotion, 8 million copies have been sold.
