The anxious groom to be is so excited about proposing that he forgets where he put the engagement ring, or worse than that, loses it altogether. While you might not think that this can happen to you, anything is possible when you get yourself worked up over the prospect of proposing to the woman that you love. The key is to stay as calm as possible as you plan how to get her to say yes.

If you want the proposal to go smoothly, with a successful end result, it is important that you be original and sincere. It is also important that you make your girlfriend feel like this day was meant only for her. To this end, whatever you do, DO NOT copy a proposal technique used by a friend or family member. This tells your ladylove that you couldn’t be bothered to think up your own proposal. By being original, you will show her that you can do the unexpected, which adds mystery. This can be a powerful motivator in a relationship.

Nothing Dangerous. Nothing ruins your proposal like an injury or a horrible misstep. While you shouldn’t become gripped by fear or afraid of your own shadow, you should exercise ample common sense. For example, you probably don’t want to stick your engagement ring in the center of a slab of meatloaf only to have the apple of your eye choke on her engagement ring. No one will be very pleased by this turn of events, not the restaurant and certainly not your girlfriend.

As you plan your approach for this proposal, keep in mind your personality as well as hers. If being the center of attention in a crowd makes her very uncomfortable, then proposing over the public address system at the basketball arena is probably not a good idea. It might be memorable, but for the wrong reasons. Try to put yourself in her shoes to think of a proposal that will make her happy, make her say yes, and make her want to tell the story to all of her friends.

Do Your Research. Finding the perfect ring can be quite the process, but with some patience you will do just fine. It is obviously important that you pick a ring that your future wife will love, and the first step towards accomplishing this is learning her taste, so do your research.
